Stress is inevitable and needs to be managed, but it can be transformed into high levels of productivity.
ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE
Stress is often a side-effect of being challenged or overstretched. Optimum cognitive performance can still be achieved if you make the decision to re-position the feeling of being challenged as a positive. Being concerned yet positive will ensure that brain feels well equipped to overcome this challenge, resulting in increased productivity.
CONTROL
We’ve all been in situations where we’ve been stressed about elements outside of our control. A delayed flight, running late for meeting due to traffic, Uber surcharges! You have no control over these situations, so ignore them. Easier said than done when your boss is breathing down your neck asking for an accurate ETA. However, once you apply a rule of only focussing on things that you can control you will see any unnecessary stress disappear.
KEEP GOOD COMPANY
Fiends, colleagues, family (not too much choice with this one) are all key in helping stress management. Building strong relationships is vital for those times when you are stressed, being able to lean on your friends as soundboards will really help you manage stress. Surround yourself with positive people and those with a growth and avoid those who tend to have a negative outlook or approach to life.
It can seem a pretty daunting prospect to accept stress as part of the daily routine, but with time it can become an invaluable asset to increase output. For more tips on stress, sleep, focus, energy and more, subscribe to our Level-Up newsletter.
